Our Running assessments are designed to identify asymmetries and musculoskeletal factors that could predispose you to injury. Studies have found that addressing these biomechanical asymmetries can significantly decrease your risk of injury as well as improved running performance and economy.

About Our Program

Our 40min run assessment has been developed over the past 6 years and is a battery of tests and running technique assessments drawn from screenings developed by the NSW Institute of Sport, the British Athletic Association and recent research papers published in peer-reviewed journals.

Our 40min exam consists of:

  • Injury History
  • Biomechanical Video Analysis of treadmill running technique (performed at the track for sprinters)
  • Muscular Control, Co-ordination and Strength
  • Joint Range of Motion

What will you Gain after your Running Assessment?

Your personal assessment will help you understand your strengths, imbalances, and weaknesses. It will provide the basis for a custom exercise program that will help you achieve your athletic goals.

In addition to your assessment we can also provide:

  • Training Programming including periodisation and load management
  • Rehab Programing
  • Access to our fully equipped rehabilitation gym

Focus Things

  • Cadence
  • Footstrike
  • Tibial angle
  • Hip angle
  • Vertical oscillation
  • Ground reaction force

When’s the best time to get your running assessment done?

Screening can be conducted at any time, however, the best time to get your screening done is during the pre-season or before recommencing training after some time off.

Ideally, there should also be a follow-up after the screening is completed to ensure that the exercises have been properly integrated into the athletes training program, as well as being performed correctly. A re-assessment can be done 3 months and 6 months post-screening.
